As we packed up to leave the High Tatras this morning, the sun finally peaked out and the clouds began to clear so our new guests got a small glimpse of the beauty of this place.
We headed down the road towards Bratislava. Our first stop was to visit Slovensky Bethlehem, an enormous animated wood carving of Slovak landmarks and general life in Slovakia.
While visiting one of the shops in the surrounding yard, we met a woman who ironically is from Mukachevo and knew of Cheryl's villages!
Another typical Slovak lunch was next.
Our next stop was in the quaint village of Cicmany where all the houses are painted.
Our last leg of the trip to Bratislava took us through beautiful winding forest roads. Upon arriving in Bratislava we were warmly greeted by my former Slovak teacher, Vlasta Stofova, and dear relative Slavo Mlynar.
But the special highlight of the evening was Penny Peters meeting her cousin, Maria Prokipcakova, for the very first time. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room!
Finally, we celebrated Nina's birthday at our lovely dinner on a boat on the Danube overlooking the spectacular Bratislava Castle!
Goodnight from lovely Bratislava!
